Last night I watched the action flick Proud Mary and it was intense, action-packed and funny at times. Taraji P. Henson did her thing as the main character. The film had its soft moments and hard-hitting action. Sort of reminded me of The Professional. This was one hell of a movie. I give it 3 stars, two thumbs up and a snap. I would recommend this movie to anyone especially Taraji P. Henson fans.

Earlier I watched the comedy/drama I, Tonya and it was funny and intense. Margot Robbie killed it as former figure skater Tonya Harding. Allison Janney was wonderful as her abusive mother LaVone. I think that Allison deserves to win an Academy Award for her role. It reminded me of Goodfellas and American Hustle. I give it 4 and a half stars, two thumbs up and a snap. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I have to say that Black Panther was the realest superhero movie I have ever seen. Chadwick Boseman was brilliant as the title character. This movie was action-packed, visually stunning and a bit funny at times. This superhero movie is like a movement for the black culture. I give it 5 stars, two thumbs up and a snap. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

What can I say about the real-life drama All the Money in the World? It was very intense, suspenseful and heart-pounding. Great performances by Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg, Christopher Plummer and Charlie Plummer. Director Ridley Scott does it again with another one. It's Ridley Scott at his best since The Martian, Gladiator and American Gangster. It reminded me of the 1996 film Ransom on some level. I give it 3 and a half stars, two thumbs up and a snap. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Earlier I watched the political drama The Post and it was brilliantly acted. It was a great movie and one of Steven Spielberg's best films. Great performances by Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. It reminded me a little bit of All the President's Men. Steven Spielberg did a great job directing this film. I give it 3 and a half stars, and two thumbs up. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.

I've been reading up on the recent box office grosses of the Oscar nominated films Phantom Thread and Call Me by Your Name and I have a strange feeling that one will go past $20 million at the box office and the other will finish off between $15 and $18 million. Paul Thomas Anderson's glamour drama Phantom Thread has grossed $11.3 million so far and if it keeps getting higher even with huge Oscar buzz, it's most likely to gross more than $20 million. Phantom Thread is nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture. Next, we have the indie gay romantic drama Call Me by Your Name. It was doing so well in limited release but ever since it went wide on January 19th, it grossed $11 million so far. The box office for "Call Me" has been getting slower and slower. If it keeps going at this rate, it would most likely to finish off at around $17 to $18 million. Call Me by Your Name has 4 Oscar noninations including Best Picture.
